I can't believe this day came as quickly as it did. I'm far past half-way now, with around 350km and two weeks to go until I reach Santiago de Compostela, and today’s destination is where I technically leave the Via de la Plata and split off onto the Camino Sanabrés. This trail heads west, but the Via carry on north-wards where you then join the Camino Frances.
I’d decided to take the Sanabrés since I’ve walked the Frances already, and this route would also take me through Ourense, where I have a cousin, and close to where my mum's family live.
I started slow, enjoying the warmth of the cafe where I ate my breakfast. It was a fine day, not too long a walk but not too short either, and full of long, infinite straight paths across rolling fields, endless blue sky and hot sun. By the afternoon I was way too hot, but I relished it after the freezing night.
I wandered into town sometime in the afternoon, welcomed at the local bar that managed the albergue with hellos and waves and cheers from the various pilgrims who had now become my Camino group. My last evening on the Via de la Plata.
Until next time,
